Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. As a young girl of just five years old when she left for Oxfordshire and attended the Dragon School. Emma was only six when she realized she wanted to be an actor. She was trained for many years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part time theatre school in Oxford in which she learned acting and singing. At the age of 10, she had appeared and played the lead in various Stagecoach shows and school productions. In 1999 casting began to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was identified by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman announced to Emma that following eight auditions they as well as Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's debut film came with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). It set records in terms of its opening and weekend ticket numbers, and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. Film critics praised the film as well as the performances of the three young stars. The Daily Telegraph, an important British paper, called Emma's acting "amazing". Emma won the Young Artist Award as the leading young actress in an Feature Film. The actress was recognized five times in recognition of her role in the movie.
